1. Application Form and Fee

  • Download application form
  • Send application fee of $150 payable by
    • E-transfer
    • Cash
    • Credit (in-person)
    • Debit (in-person)
    • Money order/bank draft payable to SOUTHERN ONTARIO DENTAL COLLEGE
The application fee includes the cost of processing applications, entrance exam, and interview.

2. Academic Requirements

The minimum academic requirement:

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (30 credits), or its equivalent*
  • Copy of official transcript
  • Copy of official diploma

*Equivalent refers to:

  • A secondary school graduation diploma from another Canadian province or territory
  • A General Education Development (GED) certificate issued by Canadian province or territory
  • A transcript, diploma or certificate from another country assessed at an Ontario OSSD level by a recognized assessment service (WES or ICAS)

3. Official Transcripts

The transcripts must be placed in the institution’s official envelope, sealed and signed by the Registrar across the seal.

All transcripts not provided in English are required to be translated into English by a recognized translator and notarized.

4.Students Educated Outside Canada

Applicants who have completed either their secondary or post-secondary education in a country other than Canada must submit an assessment report of all qualifications.

This comprehensive assessment report can be obtained:

The individual course description for each post-secondary course taken must be provided in English by a recognized translator and notarized.

*Reports must be completed within a five-year period prior to submission. Any reporting provided over the five-year period will not be accepted.

5. English Language Proficiency

The language of instruction at the Southern Ontario Dental College is English.

All applicants must be proficient in both written and spoken English.

Applicants whose first language is not English must have completed:

  • At least two years of full-time academic study in a country where English is the first language OR
  • Provide a recognized test of English proficiency

We accept the following English proficiency tests:

*Tests must be completed within a two-year period prior to submission. Any results provided over the two-year period will not be accepted.

6.Letter of Recommendation

Applicants are required to submit:

  • One letter of recommendation on official letterhead
    • From an instructor/teacher
    • A counselor
    • An employer
    • An advisor

The letter of recommendation should reflect on the applicant’s suitability to pursue studies and a career in Dental Assisting.

  • The letter of recommendation must be placed in a sealed envelope with the author’s signature across the seal to ensure confidentiality.

7.Personal Statement

A personal statement will be conducted in-person during your testing day at the college. Each applicant will have 30 minutes to complete their statement.
